Caramel, Fudge, and Toffee Fusion Bars Save

Caramel, fudge, and toffee are three of the most beloved confections in the world of sweets. Each one has its own unique characteristics and flavor profiles, but what happens when you combine them? In this recipe, we'll explore the perfect fusion of these three treats, creating a dessert bar that's sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

The key to this recipe is to balance the textures and flavors of each component. The caramel adds a smooth, creamy element, while the fudge provides a dense, chocolatey base. The toffee, with its crunchy, buttery flavor, adds a delightful contrast to the other two components.

To create these fusion bars, you'll need to make each component separately before assembling them. Don't worry, it's easier than you think, and the end result is well worth the extra effort.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup of the heavy cream. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the caramel turns a deep amber color.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and slowly pour in the remaining 1/4 cup of heavy cream. The mixture will bubble up and steam vigorously, so be careful.
  5. Let the caramel cool slightly, then pour it into the prepared baking dish. Let it cool and set at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval until smooth.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate over the set caramel and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, and sweetened condensed milk. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil.
  9. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee turns a deep golden brown color.
  10. Pour the toffee over the chocolate layer and smooth the top with a spatula.
  11. Refrigerate the bars for at least 30 minutes to set before cutting into squares and serving.
Recipe Note: Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
