Homemade S'mores Bars with Toasted Marshmallow Filling Save

S'mores are a beloved summer treat that typically require a campfire to assemble. However, with these homemade s'mores bars, you can enjoy the same delicious combination of chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers in the comfort of your own home. The key to these bars is the toasted marshmallow filling, which is achieved by using a kitchen torch to toast the marshmallows to perfection.

The graham cracker crust provides a crunchy base for the bars, while the melted chocolate holds everything together. These s'mores bars are perfect for potlucks, picnics, or as a sweet treat to enjoy with family and friends. With this recipe, you can make 24 pieces of s'mores bars that are sure to be a hit with anyone who tries them.

One of the best things about these homemade s'mores bars is how easy they are to customize. You can use different types of chocolate or add-ins like nuts or caramel sauce to create unique flavor combinations. Additionally, the toasted marshmallow filling can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 24 hours, making it easy to assemble the bars when you're ready.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup marshmallow creme
  • 1/2 cup toasted marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the graham cracker crumbs and sugar. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the crumbs are evenly moistened. Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, or until it is lightly browned. Allow it to cool completely.
  4. Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval. Spread the melted chocolate over the cooled crust.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the marshmallow creme, toasted marshmallows, and vanilla extract. Spread the marshmallow mixture over the chocolate layer.
  6. Refrigerate the bars for at least 30 minutes to allow the layers to set. Cut into 24 pieces and serve.
  7. To toast the marshmallows, use a kitchen torch to carefully toast the marshmallows until they are golden brown. Alternatively, you can place the marshmallows under the broiler for 10-15 seconds, or until toasted to your liking.
Recipe Note: Store the s'mores bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
